Our proud mama and attending keepers welcomed baby Tarra on Wednesday, July\u00a026th.<\/p>\n<p>Though she&#8217;s already taller than most\u00a0of our staff, at 5-feet, 1-inches and 125 lbs tiny Tarra is petite for a giraffe. Her proud parents\u2014Mama Malaika and Papa Kopi\u2014are both Sonoma County natives, born right here at Safari West.<\/p>\n<p>While Tarra gets used to her surroundings,\u00a0she and Malaika\u00a0will relax in the lot near the giraffe barn. The long\u00a0necks of the other giraffes stretching down\u00a0to meet the new arrival should pretty well signal her whereabouts. Soon enough, mom and daughter will\u00a0venture into the giraffe lot so Tarra can\u00a0start learning the ways of her herd.<\/p>\n<p>Come down to Safari West this summer to meet Tarra and the rest of our tower of towering giraffes!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Birthday!
